Bridging The Gap (BTG)

WHAT IS BTG – BRIDGING THE GAP ?

  • The primary purpose is to introduce residents of treatment facilities and hospitals, and newly released inmates, to A.A. on the outside, usually by taking them to their first meeting when released.

HOW CAN I HELP?

  • There are two options:
  1.  Sign up to be part of the Bridging the Gap team – you will be called occasionally, when there is a newcomer in your town, of the same gender and around your age.  Call the newcomer and arrange to take them to an AA meeting when they are released to AA on the outside.
  2.  Become part of the team of presenters which goes into treatment facilities, hospitals and the county jail to tell staff and residents what BTG is and how they can register to be supported when they are released.  Training is provided.  It’s easy and exciting!

Current openings: A male presenter for Serenity Knolls one Tuesday/month at 2:00; male presenters for the County Jail the last Tuesday/month at 8:00; a female presenter for the Vine the first Sunday/month at 3:00; female presenters for the County Jail the first Thursday/month at 7:00.

Call 415 506-2006 for info or attend the BTG meeting at the Alano Club second Wednesday of each month. Orientation for new volunteers is at 6:00.
